The brief
(Draft text — please replace.) A family wanted more space and light from a traditional brick house, without losing its character on the street.
The idea
We kept the brick gable as the anchor of the house and set new bronze-clad volumes beside and above it. Their warm metal tone picks up the colour of the brick while clearly reading as new.
Living in it
The ground floor opens fully to the garden. A glazed dining room steps out onto a wide timber deck, and a planted roof softens the view from the bedrooms above. Inside, pale timber, simple joinery and soft daylight give the home a calm Japandi feel.
